This module provides students with an overview of the course structure, expectations, and essential tools. It covers administrative details, introduces the syllabus, and familiarizes students with the key resources and technologies they will use throughout the course.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

  • Locate the course website and syllabus.
  • List all methods for communication and engagement.
  • Clone and interact with a git repository.
  • Understand the basics of Python.

Assignments

All assignments are due by 2pm ET

Due Tuesday, September 1

  1. Create an account on GitHub and join the Imageomics-ABC-edu organization (fill out this form and watch for an emailed invitation).
  2. Using the Introduction Slide Template, create one slide with your name, degree/area seeking, university/institution, skills, expertise, and goals for taking this course. Include a photo of yourself. Then upload your introduction slide in a post to the course intro discussion.
  3. Assure familiarity with Git and version control:
  4. Enroll in PALS program
  5. READ the Course Syllabus (seriously, read it; don’t ignore it)
  6. Register for the Zoom class meetings
  7. Ensure you’re on the course slack channel (main source of class communications)
  8. Bookmark this additional resource: ABC Guide/Python-For-Ecologists.

  1. Assure familiarity with Git and version control:
