Fall 2026¶

Part I offers a synchronous, lecture/flipped-classroom introduction to the necessary analytical and biological foundational skills to conduct research at the intersection of AI and ecology.

Mode: Virtual, (mostly) synchronous course:

• One-hour Zoom synchronous class session per week on Tuesday at 2pm ET.

Modules¶

There are seven (7) modules each consisting of two or three sessions (weeks). Each session includes a 1-hour synchronous "lecture" day which is held on Tuesday's at 2pm ET of each week. Instructional leads of each session plan course materials to assure that students are learning on their own time and using the time together to engage (via collective/group discussions, labs, etc.) with instructors and each other. The flow for each class session is generally as follows:

Session (weekly) Flow:

• Before class (Friday-Monday): begin completing any activities required before "Lecture" day (e.g., readings and/or recorded lecture).
• “Lecture” day (Tuesday): Discussions; highlights of assignments; labs together; or something active.
• After Class (Wednesday - Thursday): Follow-up assignments and journal entry that relate to current content.
